Women
Presbyterian Women at Stone Church are a part of the larger group of Presbyterian Women throughout the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) that includes the Presbytery of San Jose, the Synod of the Pacific and, nationally, Presbyterian Women Churchwide.
Our purpose is as follows:
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:
- to nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study,
- to support the mission of the church worldwide,
- to work for justice and peace, and
- to build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and witnesses to the promise of God’s kingdom.
ALL women at Stone Church are welcome to participate in Presbyterian Women.
Presbyterian Women at Stone Church offer several circles (Bible Study Groups referred to as Sapphire, Amethyst and Emerald) which meet monthly from September through May for fellowship and Bible study using the Horizons Bible Study created by Presbyterian Women. The current study is Finding Resilience, Joy, and Our Identity in Jesus Christ by Rhashell D. Hunter.
Other opportunities include:
-
- Soul Feast groups: fellowship groups providing support for spiritual growth
- Lunch Bunch: meets monthly at a local restaurant
- Page Turners book group: meets monthly from September – May
- Prayer Shawl Ministry: meets monthly creating knitted or crocheted shawls, baby caps, hats and scarves to be given to those in need.
Through our Ruby Hudspeth Trust, Presbyterian Women provide scholarships for college students and for those attending specific events such as the National Churchwide Gathering of Presbyterian Women. The Trust also allows us to give financial support to local organization such as Santa Clara County Public Health Nurses, Front Door Communities, Immanuel House and others.
A special activity each fall is sewing Little Dresses for Africa. Presbyterian Women participate in two offerings on the national level, the Birthday Offering and the Thank Offering that are received in the summer and in the fall. These offerings support mission and health-related programs both in the USA and abroad.
