MISSION & SOCIAL JUSTICE

The StoneWorks committee leads Stone Church’s mission and social justice efforts, both in our community and in concert with Presbyterian Church (USA) and other national and international partners.

Engagement and Service Opportunities

  • Loaves and Fishes: Stone members volunteer consistently at Loaves and Fishes, preparing and serving meals on multiple occasions. These events are joyful opportunities for hands-on services and strengthen our relationship with this vital food ministry.
  • Willow Glen Cares: We supported their Fall 2024 backpack drive with a successful school supply collection and later gathered 450 toothbrushes, 250 tubes of toothpaste, and a cash donation.
  • Next Door Solutions: This was our 2024 holiday giving partner. We collected gift cards, stuffed animals, and children’s books and provided volunteers for their December open house, which included storytelling for children.
  • Sacred Heart Community Services: The first Sunday of every month, we gather donations for Sacred Heart, including food, clothing, and other important items.

Financial Contributions

In addition to our time and volunteer efforts, Stone is proud to support various organizations with financial contributions, including:

Advocacy and Partners

  • Stone continues to support People Acting In Community Together (PACT), a multi-faith organization taking collaborative action to tackle pervasive social problems such as lack of affordable housing; racial and economic achievement gap in schools; the broken immigration system; racial profiling and distrust of law enforcement; and more based in San Jose.
  • We supported PACT and other related groups’ Rapid Response Network trainings to address those in the San Jose area living in fear of unfair and unjust immigration enforcement.
  • We are exploring how to become involved in the Guns to Gardens project, allowing people to safely surrender unwanted firearms.
