Taizé Contemplative Evening Service

February 3 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Dimly lit church interior with stone wall backdrop, illuminated cross, numerous candles, and a wooden cross laying on red carpeted steps.

Taizé worship is an outgrowth of a movement founded in the French town of that name by an ecumenical Protestant and Catholic monastic fraternity headed by Brother Roger. It involves sung and chanted prayers, meditation, a period of silence, liturgical readings, and icons. There is no preaching.

Taizé’s emphasis, according to its website, is ecumenical. The community “wants its life to be a sign of reconciliation between divided Christians and between separated peoples.”

Services of music and meditation are held at 6:45 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month, and every Tuesday during Advent and Lent.  https://stonechurch.org/taize/
