CONGREGATIONAL CARE

I slept and dreamt that life was joy.
I woke and saw that life was service.
I acted and behold, service was joy.

At Stone Church of Willow Glen,

Deacons offer compassionate service to those in need. We attempt to connect and emulate Jesus’ caring ministry in modern times.

We try to be sensitive in valuing members’ interests and spiritual needs. A pivotal part of our mission is community focused activities. One of our goals is to be “hands on” and personal.

Three people enjoy a celebration in an office setting with bookshelves, decorations, and a small table with a cake and candles.

Deacons serve the church and extended community in many ways:

  • Active prayer ministry, both confidential and shared
  • Visits to shut-in
  • Meals and rides to medical appointments with help from members of the congregation through Stone Cares
  • Sunday greeters and ushers
  • Home communion (with an elder) for those unable to attend services
  • Provision of receptions following memorial services
  • Sponsorship of whole church and community events such as Halloween Trick or Treat, Easter Egg Hunt, Parents’ Day Out, All-church party, and card ministry

Deacons are always looking for additional servants of God.

With more hands, we are able to provide more services. Further interest and questions can be directed to our current moderator or a member of the nominating committee, both of whom are listed in the Sunday service bulletin.

Stephen Ministry

Stone Church has an active Stephen Ministry program, which equips members of the congregation to provide one-to-one care to those experiencing a difficult time in life. If you are interested in becoming a Stephen Minister or wish care from a Stephen Minister, please contact us at StoneCares@stonechurch.org.
